Molinaro and NYC & Company Announce Staten Island Cultural Attractions Magazine

Molinaro Thanks NYC & Company for $19,157 Grant

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Borough President James P. Molinaro will be joined by Cristyne L. Nicholas, President and CEO of NYC & Company, at a press conference to announce the creation of a cultural attractions publication to help promote tourism for Staten Island. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 26th at 10:30 a.m. in Borough Hall’s Conference Room 122.

The Borough President will thank Ms. Nicholas and the NYC & Company Foundation for a $19,157 grant to produce a 34-page, full-color cultural attractions magazine to promote all the places of interest to visit on Staten Island, including the Staten Island Zoo, the Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Historic Richmond Town, the Conference House, the Staten Island Botanical Garden, the Staten Island Children’s Museum, the Noble Maritime Collection and the Staten Island Institute of Arts & Sciences. The publication will also feature performing arts and parks and recreational opportunities.

“Thanks to the support of Cristyne Nicholas and the NYC & Company Foundation, my office has been able to promote Staten Island to the millions of tourists who visit New York City each year,” said Molinaro. “Last year we produced Staten Island’s first television commercial. This year we will be marketing the Borough’s places of interest in our first-ever magazine. Staten Island recognizes the important benefits of tourism to our cultural attractions, local businesses, and citizens at large.”

In a letter to the Borough President announcing the grant, Ms. Nicholas wrote, “The grant program seeks to assist in the promotion of New York City and the organizations that make visiting New York a special and exciting experience and enhancing the City’s positive image domestically and internationally. We look forward to assisting you in the promotion of Staten Island’s cultural treasures.”
