Molinaro expresses outrage at former 9 /11 commission co-chairs’ criticism of Mayor Giuliani
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Borough President James P. Molinaro today expressed outrage at the former 9/11 Commission co-chairs who criticize Mayor Rudy Giuliani in their new book, “Without Precedent,” which states that their grilling of Giuliani was the “low point” of their probe, and that he got off easy.
“Their colossal nerve is without precedent,” Molinaro said of authors Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton. “How dare they tarnish the reputation of a man who almost lost his life leading this City through a terrorist attack?
“The authors say that Giuliani was not questioned about communication problems between rescuers in the Towers, or about why the City had its emergency response command center in World Trade Center 7,” Molinaro said.
“They said they did not get all of the information they needed to put on the public record,” Molinaro added. “Well, why not? They were co-chairing the Commission. They were doing the questioning. They only have themselves to blame.
“ObviousIy, book sales must be bad if these authors need to resort to attacking America’s Mayor,” Molinaro said. “I think it’s despicable to criticize Giuliani, who led this City through its darkest day. Mayor Giuliani’s actions were nothing short of heroic.”
