B.P. seeks to hire traffic consultant

Borough President James P. Molinaro announced today that he will be placing an advertisement this Sunday in the Staten Island Advance and other newspapers seeking a traffic/transportation consultant to work part-time or full-time in the Staten Island Borough President’s office. The traffic consultant would assist him in developing traffic initiatives to ease congestion on Staten Island roads.

“Traffic needs and improvements are going to be the main focus of the next four years of my administration,” Molinaro said.  “I am looking forward to bringing someone in who has a wealth of knowledge pertaining to Staten Island traffic concerns, who can work with other government agencies on behalf of the people of Staten Island,” Molinaro said.

Applicants should have at least 10 years of related work experience with a background in City transportation issues.  The consultant will work with the Borough President to tackle road congestion problems on Staten Island, and will also be responsible for bringing new ideas and technologies such as “smart lights” to the Borough. The traffic consultant will also be responsible for identifying roads and intersections for improvements such as left-turn lanes and informational signage.

“Relieving traffic congestion is my highest priority, and I am confident that we will be able to move forward with road improvements that will better serve the people of Staten Island,” Molinaro concluded.
